Film Festival 2010 Announcement - Redrawing
The Map Of Indie Film.
Monday,
January 3, 2011 - 8:05 AM - Tampa Indie Film Log for Filmmaker C. A. Passinault
A
New Year. A Renewed Agenda. A New Era.
After months of work organizing
a massive amount of content, the Tampa Film Blog is finally updated and
back to work. Posts and updates to this Tampa Film Blog will now resume,
and we have a lot to do in 2011. The Tampa Film Blog will be busy, as
it will be referencing a ton of content additions being done to the growing
array of Tampa Bay Film sites.
Although 2011 will only see a number of underground film festivals for
Tampa Bay Film and a few short films from me, content additions to the
Tampa Bay Film sites will be critical this year to lay the groundwork
for what is coming. I will be spending most of this year working my photography,
design, and web development business, and will also be spending time putting
my event planning and stage production companies back together, as they
will be needed by next year. Eventi Stage, the stage production company,
will be producing all of my film festivals and indie film events. Although
nothing is official, I hope to have my first large film festivals debut
in 2012, which would mean that my earlier blog post predictions of the
2014 Tampa indie film scene will, more or less, be realized.
Regarding the renewed agenda, it is not our purpose to attack people in
the Tampa indie film scene with Tampa Bay Film. It is our purpose, however,
to serve as a general reference for the Tampa film scene, and to make
people accountable for what they say and do. If there is damage to anyone’s
credibility, it will be by their own actions, as we will only serve to
put together a massive reference resource. Accountability will be emphasized.
All content on Tampa Bay Film sites will reference, and link to, relevant
content on other Tampa Bay Film sites, as well as the site that the content
is on. We are going to organize content and make it optimal to find, as
well as search for.
Content on the Tampa Film Blog will be organized by subject in 2011, as
well as the current date and title format (Mental note: This week, replace
one of the main menu navigation buttons with a “Subjects”
button to lead to a subject based menu. I have to refresh the site code
anyway, so I might as well update the menu system.), and will be referenced
from other Tampa Bay Film sites. An industry reference database will be
set up on the main Tampa Bay Film site, and this will serve to enable
easy searches and information on the players in the Tampa indie film scene.
Profiles will be set up, and those, in turn, will reference relevant blog
post content on the Tampa Film Blog, reviews on the Tampa Film Review
site, films which are available on the Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival,
and so forth. If any investor, actor, or talent needs to be able to evaluate
a filmmaker in the Tampa indie film market, we intend to make it easy
for them to do so by providing a compilation of them and their work. The
people will be reviewed, scored, and their profiles will be updated every
year. The profile review history will be indexed for reference.
Also announced for addition to the main Tampa Bay Film site is a massive
historical database on the Tampa indie film market. This database will
go back to 2000, and once it is up, it will be updated annually, henceforth,
once the year is over. The database will have a year summary, and the
content will be broken down by subject in the year section, and then it
will be further broken down into historical fact, anecdotes, opinions,
and referenced reviews. Of course, this database will also reference features
such as the behind-the-scenes expose of The Quiet Place indie film production
on Tampa Bay Film, The Tampa Film Review guide on Tampa Film Review, and
others.
A brand new 2011 Tampa indie film evaluation resource will be set up,
too, which will combine with the traditional scam analysis database and
scam fighting tools. Indie film investors and talent can evaluate filmmakers
and their projects. Filmmakers can also evaluate other filmmakers, and
determine if it would be beneficial to work with them. The evaluation
of filmmakers and their projects will be a priority, as we would like
to discourage investors and talent from working with poor value projects;
it is critical that quality standards in the Tampa independent film indutry
remain as high as possible. The evaluation and scam analysis databases
on both Tampa Bay Acting and Tampa Bay Talent will also emphasize evaluating
independent film, and will encourage talent and investors to avoid poor
value projects and filmmakers.
All of these features should be up by the end of January, and will be
fully operational by Spring 2011.
