TAMPA FILM BLOG The real deal about the Tampa indie film industry by Tampa film expert C. A. Passinault PREVIOUS BLOG POST - BLOG POSTS - CONTACT - NEXT BLOG POST Monday, December 15, 2008 - 1:50 AM - Tampa Indie Film Log for Filmmaker C. A. Passinault Tampa Indie Film Support Efforts Expand For 2009 It has been a fun weekend. I did two shoots (the one on Friday night, for my Tampa film festival reviews, I used a consumer camera because I wasn't about to bring my expensive pro camera into a high crime area at night). I also worked on Tampa Bay Film, and finished my new review for TFR 2008, the official 2008 review for the Tampa Film Review monthly Tampa film festival. I also updated the older 2006-2007 Tampa Film Review Tampa film festival review and added a cover image, which looks good and shares design continuity with the new one that I made for the TFR 2008 review. Oh, and Tampa Bay Film has received its final site template / directory refresh for 2008, and the entire Tampa Bay Film web site is now ready for 2009. The content has been updated, the menu enhanced, and several new features were added, as well as new support technology for the Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival. Additionally, the new Tampa film festival review database is now online on the Tampa Bay Film web site, and it should be followed with a Tampa indie film review database in 2009. I will be reviewing some of the dozens of Tampa indie film DVD's which I have in the studio, as well as Tampa indie films showing on the Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival. The Tampa Bay Film Tampa Indie Film Scam Database is being worked on right now. It utilizes third generation scam busting technology developed for Florida Modeling Career, built from scratch for Tampa Bay Film and optimized to help professionals identify and combat Tampa film scams. It will be state of the art when it is brought online in January. The Tampa Film Scam Database will feature a film scam scenario-based front-end menu system, a conventional scam term menu, and the most advanced scam fighting tools and indie film-relevant ASA (Anti Scam Agreement) forms for talent and indie film professionals to use, free of charge. How will some of the sleazy Tampa filmmakers make their films if Tampa actors and talent avoid them, and they are cut off from professional talent? Tampa Bay Acting will be upgraded to assist Tampa Bay Film in the fight to bring integrity and professionalism to the Tampa indie film market, and this will pave the way for the formation, and the growth, of Tampa Bay's first professional indie film community! Ah, a few more updates. If I were a smoker, I would be smoking a cigar right now. The Tampa indie film scene is at the end of an era of divisive strife and un professionalism, and for the first time there is hope for the future of Tampa indie film. Many, many actors and talent, and a few filmmakers, either met up with me this weekend to shake my hand or called me to thank me. Don't thank me for the change which is coming. We all deserve the credit, because we all worked together for this change. Alrighty, with other updates, I am finishing up some more Tampa film festival reviews, and have been doing a lot of updates with my talent resource sites. Tampa Bay Film and Tampa Bay Acting will also move to embrace the heavy media coverage that Tampa Bay Modeling has been enjoying this year. These are historic times. Five years from now, I have faith that the Tampa film scene will be different. The professionals will be in control, and there will be a strong Tampa film community which will make great things happen for Tampa indie film, as well as have the genuine respect of the Tampa film commission, the major Tampa film festivals, and, perhaps, even Hollywood itself. This will happen either with or without me, too, people, as many people are now working toward this. I will help as much as I can, and contribute to the new Tampa indie film movement, and am even prepared to accept a leadership role if needed. I care, and I know many others who do, too. 04:51 AM - Oh, my. I just did something which I am sure that I will go to hell for. It will be very, very controversial- possibly the most controversial thing that I have ever done in Tampa indie film. I deemed it professionally necessary, however, just spent a couple of hours working on it, and I am done now- And I thought that modeling agencies were the only ones kicking themselves over this problem. If I am not careful, I will be just like Rick (The photographer Rick, not the filmmaker, who is a different Rick), and then I will have to put myself out of business in disgrace. Well, it's done, and it is perfectly legal. Doesn't anyone do the proper research and CYA anymore? My attorney will be ready to handle any issues with this, that much I will make sure of. Ah, just sit back and watch what's going to happen next year. Well, I'm hungry. Time to get something to eat and relax while I wait for the sun to dawn on another Monday, and the start of an awesome work week. I hope that everyone in the Tampa indie film scene has a Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year, because I just gave them all a hell of a lot of presents that they will be opening throughout 2009. I hope to have my latest indie films debut in 2009, too, and I am sure that many people will be kicking themselves going "Why didn't I think of that?!?!" , and "His films are getting all the attention in the entertainment industry and in the media!". My films will certainly be revolutionary, and they might just start a revolution in indie film, starting in Tampa indie film. Well, promotion and marketing is no problem, especially when you look at all of the support infrastructure which I have built and invested in. That investment is about to pay off.
